Volumetric Performance Toolbox
Year: 2020- Present
Volumetric Performance Toolbox envisions live online 3D dance performance as a new way for artists to create and perform from their own living spaces and audiences to communally experience art using minimal equipment, during this time of pandemic. It is the collaborative project of Valencia James, spatial interaction lab, Glowbox and technologist, Sorob Louie.
I led the artistic approach to creating a novel system that allows the performer to appear as they are in real life within browser-based virtual reality, without needing an avatar. My approach informed the technical side of the project and was rooted in the creation of a proof of concept performance, in the project's first phase (July-September 2020), as well as the pilot residency program for artists in the second phase (October 2020- February 2021).
Developed through Rapid Response Fellowship by Eyebeam.
